Today's Song - Pain by LK

LK may not be an easy rapper to find, but he should be. I am saying that based off the one song I've heard by him. That's how good this is. I'm gonna go exploring more now though. The amount of truth, hope, and faith put into 5 minutes of a banging instrumental produced by Noodles is startling.

I think a difficulty some rappers with good flow have is getting their words to be entirely audible and for their message to get across. LK does not have that problem.

Here's some of his crystal clear message:
(Intro)
You see I know we can get away from this pain if we are willing to call on Jesus' name. But you see I also know that people feel the same pain every day and they feel like Jesus is turning and walking away. But that's not the case though.

I know the pain you feel is real
But I know that Jesus heals

I know the pain you feel is real
You try to cure it by drinking and popping pills
It feels like it's working but not for real
These are what I like to call temporary thrills
Drinking till you can't remember what happened the past night
Tryna hide your pain so you living in a mask like
It's the 31st of the 10th month
None of that works by itself so you on your 10th blunt!...

Jesus can calm the storm
and perform
the work in you
that heals the hurt in you
Cast your cares on Him
and your burdens too...

Bars. That's all I gotta say.
Stream/Download it here and follow the man on twitter for his new stuff - I'll be over it too!

Today's Throwback Song - They All Fall Down by Grits #TBT

In the second edition of "Throwback Thursday," we travel back to 1999. GRITS (Grammatical Revolution in the Spirit) is one of the major faces of Christian Hip Hop and "They All Fall Down" is arguably their biggest initial hit. If you don't remember that one, I'm sure you've heard the "My Life Be Like" (oohhh ahhh ooohh) classic.

At either rate, "They All Fall Down" came first and along with a hot, salsa-esque beat, delivers scintillating rhymes and intricate word play. Check the lyrics:

Intro:
En otros tiempos, había un niño que creía que no podría fracasar; y no podría morir. Podrîa vivir sin nadie y nunca caerse. Pero sin Dios todos non caímos. (Roughly translated as In the past, there was a boy who thought he could not fall and could not die...but without God, we all fall.)

Blood curdling truth
Working the Word as in proof
Besides mind the guidelines of righteous paths taken
Tremendous speaking, fresh out the kitchen
And never switching from the homegrown
Hold it down like ozone
This for the playa playa
Make ya holla holla
The kid with no morals
Sell his mama for a dollar...
I've compiled this alongside with bone
So you can file this under "O" for opposing a nihilist"
Doubt you know nothing about reactionary
Belief in the scriptures' fulfillment are contrary
To popular belief
Hellbound in a basket
Sucking on their teeth
Wound up in a casket
At close, you froze
Already chose the doors you go through
The life you chose to lead
Determines the place you go to

Chorus
To the naked untrained eye
Who can't see time fly by
Revolving on a carousel
Living life like a modern day fairytale
Slow mo', urgent message gets a no-go
What fo'
Can't nobody tell you
Everything is lovey dovey
'Til your plans fall through

They all fall down
They all fall down
They all fall down
They all fall

Here's the classic video embedded for you:

And here's where you can purchase their greatest hits album!

Today's Song - Change Gone Come by Wildchild ft. SPZRKT, Cheno Lyfe and Eddie Nigma

This one goes off - the beat is hauntingly chill, the words on point, and the mixtures of flow powerful. Wildchild's single boasts a talented cast (SPZRKT also featured on multiple Social Club songs and Cheno Lyfe's "PYITF" is another big song today in CHH while Eddie Nigma is up and coming and being featured in many singles).

Check some of the lyrics
Chorus
Oh these days, these days are dark
It seems like we were better off lost
But it's on the horizon - Keep Rising

I know I'm nothing special
Another man with issues
I fall but get up again in a world thats full of things that trip you
Days seem dark
Nights seem long...
When's it my turn?
When will I win?
Thoughts are circling my brain as I do things
Not good for me but temporary pleasures
To ease the pain of the day from a lonely Christian...
I gotta be strong
Today is soon gone
Change is gone come
And I am not alone.

Today's Song - Stop It by Skrip

Skrip has already made somewhat of a name for himself with the Und_rscore I and II - Stop It comes of the Und_rscore II. Here's some of the lyrics:

My aim to reframe the shame that's been slain
So that all who don't know could be born again...

With the versatility, intricately I'm back again
All y'all need to fall back - Benny Hinn...

New eyesight so I'm making it clear
I'm a light lamp-stand yelling now "Get over here"
Flows everlasting will forever paint a picture
You may know me as Skrip but it's short for Scripture

Here's the link for stream and free download.

Skrip is one of my favorites and his flow is one of the best in Christian Hip Hop today. Click here to get the rest of the mixtape Und_rscore II for free on Rapzilla and here for Skrip's website.

Today's Song - Work to Do - GS ft. Mouthpi3ce

This one, courtesy of a friend's suggestion, is catchy with an underground sound, heavy bass, steady flow, and solid lyricism.
GS starts off the song reflecting hypocrisy in modern day Christianity and exposing the argument that Jesus never actually died on the cross:

...Drinking life away you had a chance but you blew it
You smoke in front of ya kids and you tellin them not to do it? Huh? HUH?
A role model? I think not.
Before they even had a dream you made the dream stop.
That's what I'm here to give them God like a Sunday Service
Have them quoting scriptures in the house that make your money nervous
...they say He never was dead, He just passed out
Jesus died, took 3, and faded like a pass route

It's followed by a catchy hook making you remember that Christianity is not just a religion, it's an occupation and a lifestyle and we have a lot to do.
Mouthpi3ce also spits a solid verse after encouraging others to follow the "mission" and warns against lukewarm Christianity by saying "if you can't stand the heat, get your tail up out the kitchen."

Free stream and download courtesy of Rapzilla and found here.

Today's Song - Take Me Alive - #KYMG ft. Certi5d Geek, King Ace & Wolf Atoned

Yes I've been through the pain, I still suffer some
Trusting in His Holy Son, reppin for the Holy One...

Tell Satan to take his lies back
Real love, Real love he despise that
So he try to kill us all with the money
If i jump off a mountain for it all I'm a dummy (x2)

...I learn in the word that nothing don't belong to me
So gain the whole world?? False dream...

Just a taste of some of the real insight this song provides in the battle against material gains we face as Christians. Certi5d Geek, King Ace and Wolf Atoned all contribute great messages in the #KYMG song.

Even better news, it's available for streaming and free download courtesy of Rapzilla. Get it here!
